The seal lying on top of the ice doesn’t stand a chance. Knocked into the sea, ... Often referred to as ‘wolves of the sea’, killer whales live and hunt together in ‘pods’, or family groups, much like a pack of wolves. ... yay! this fun! Poop. The ear tips seal up well when sized properly, and they block out quite a bit of ambient noise. The standard tips fit my ears, but two other pairs provide adjustment for others. An interesting note I made about the additional tips is the sealed blister pack they come in, instead of a bag or loose in the box.
2022.01.27 15:15 lucyland Seal Pods for OL pods: yay or nay?
I searched this sub and found useful threads from three years ago but am wondering what people who have them are thinking in 2022? I'm new to Nespresso and found out that the recycling program is not available where I am (according to a very nice employee of the Zagreb Nespresso store who actually called me in response to an email inquiry).
In the event the Seal Pods and equivalent are too much of a hassle, I'll be asking for the best crafting ideas for spent pods.

I had my last exam ever on university. I am 25 and just finished my masters. I watched euphoria yesterday evening and realized how lonely I am. I can’t even go out with a friend… or even call… I am so f*ckin lonely I can’t even put food in my mouth. I weight 110 lbs with my 5 9… I tried to make friends online but all I found were creepy guys. I am so sad

2022.01.27 15:15 GB_9 Transitioning from hiker to backpacker, general advice needed!
Sorry for the long winded post, the research I've done has been a lot to digest and I’m struggling to piece together the last bits of a trip I’m planning on taking in the near future.
To give a bit of backstory: My experience level as of now has consisted of lengthy day hikes. Friends and I will pack the necessary gear for a day, drive and park at trail heads, complete the hike, and return home. While this has been fun and as my experience with them has increased, this approach has become extremely limiting in terms of how far we can go/what we can accomplish in one day. The obvious next step would be overnight backpacking. I understand this comes with a whole new set of required gear and skills, and I’ve been doing research daily to prepare. The next step is actually getting out there and making the mistakes to improve with time and experience.
With that being said, my first question: those who backpack, how exactly do you plan your multi day trips? Maybe I’m overthinking, but I’m struggling to understand the logistics of it all. How do you approach transportation to the trail head? Do you rent a car if coming from out of state? Do you drive and leave your car for multiple days at the trail head until you circle back to it later? Prior to the trip and obviously depending on the trail/destination, do you generally plan ahead on where you plan on stopping for each night, or just wing it the day of? Do you generally tend to stick to trails with designated campsites along the way or prefer dispersed camping?
With my prior experience there’s always been a definite goal: drive to trail, complete trail, get back to car and go home. I’ve never had to worry about potential stops, sorting out campsites, permits, etc. and I think that’s what’s worrying me.
Once I get a better understanding for the above question, I plan on taking some shorter solo overnight trips locally in the SoCal area to gain experience. Which then brings me to my next question, recommendations for a longer trip with friends. The plan is 2-3 days in mid May in the Pacific Northwest. I’m seeing a lot of recommendations for the Hoh River trail and High Divide loop in Olympic national park. Both seem heavily trafficked, have a ton of research on them readily available, and seem challenging yet do-able for my skill level. Does anybody care to share their experience with these and have any tips to share? By no means am I set on these though, so if you have suggestions in the Northern California, Oregon, or Washington area, feel free to share. I want to expand outside of SoCal more than anything.
If there was any resource in particular that helped you make that transition from hiking to backpacking, whether it be a certain website, reddit guide, book, etc. please share that as well! I'll take any advice at this point

2022.01.27 15:15 radrebbetzin Who else is Frum FIRE-ing?
I literally joined Reddit to have this discussion. The group description is excellent, but I'm not seeing too much discussion of the FIRE movement in the comments. Please let me know if I'm missing something.
So me, my husband and our sweet kids KAH are frum Jews. My husband and I both have professional jobs and each earn into the mid-100ks.
I got really into personal finance about 3 years ago. My husband and I want to achieve financial independence and retire early, while our kids are still relatively young (below I explain how). Although as frum Jews - or even people with children who don't necessarily aspire to living in a tiny house - we don't identify with all aspects of the FIRE (financial independence retire early) communities, the idea of reaching a quantifiable level of wealth in income-producing assets and having more choices in how we spend our time is extremely compelling. Of course, I know the FIRE movement folks or even "Rich Dad Poor Dad" author Robert Kiyosaki didn't invent these ideas, and obviously Jews have been finding success and financial independence for centuries. All that said, I'm looking to connect with other frum Jews who are FIRE-ing or are thinking about money in creative, out-of-the-box ways. I am aware of the Kosher Money Podcast, though it seems to mostly be covering the basics of budgeting and personal finance. I would love for them to cover this movement and the frum Jews who are on the FIRE path in one way or another (I mean, unless it's just us. I hope it's not!). Eli, you out there??
Does anyone else here listen to Joshua Sheats on Radical Personal Finance? Andrew Henderson of the Nomad Capitalist? I would love to connect with other frum folks who do. Bonus points if you have young kids.
Ancillary to FIRE (but made possible by it and by leaving W2 jobs), I'm also looking for people who might want to World School or who have set up homeschool co-ops. One of our FIRE goals is to leave our W2 jobs in roughly 5 years (retire) and spend a year or two traveling. Frum Jews are (fortunately, blessedly) committed to community (us too! we love our community), especially day schools or yeshivot for kids. Still, if our family wanted to take a year or two and travel the world, I think we could do it brilliantly, and if I see it isn't working well, we'll return after a few months - there's little downside. Travel logistics with kashrus and Shabbos are a little more challenging of course, but there are more kosher travelers, groups, and resources every day. Also, we can bring some pots and pans, and a plata - my husband and I have traveled extensively and aren't so intimidated by this. Our family is large enough BH and our Torah commitments and learning strong enough that I think it could be a really wonderful experience for us and the kids. We could visit friends and family and communities across the world while home schooling/world schooling and spend precious time learning and bonding as a family during the few years we actually have while our kids are young. Maybe we'd be blogging, starting a family business, or creating a traveling kollel? Lots of possibilities. All of this would be enriched so much by finding others who are interested in doing similar things.
How are we FIREing? As I said, I got really into personal finance about 3 years ago. I don't come from money, but I'd saved up and I bought my first single family rental house in 2019. My husband also bought a few. Now we've got 12 properties now including a duplex, and they're all producing enough income that every couple months, we're able to buy another BH. Conservatively, we should be able to reach FIRE in about 5 years. Happy to tell more of our story/flesh out details, but our goals are to continue to buy properties (we'll likely go commercial), embark on our travel plans, replace our incomes and make sure any work we do is because we are passionate about it.
Looking forward to hearing from you all re tips and connections! Thanks!

2022.01.27 15:15 siamocontenti Fox News knows that leftist infighting will always be our downfall
We should’ve collectively said “that interview fucking sucked, it’s cringe/embarrassing/whatever” and worked together to rebuild the community in the wake of it. But of course, it divided us instead — the more radical members of the group went places like DestroyWork while the rest went to ReformWork
Absolutely no unity in the face of adversity — the one thing the right does exceptionally well.

2022.01.27 15:15 maestro2u Purchase Advice - Receiver Refresh
The need: replace receiver with one that can push HDR @ 120fps to an LG C1 55"
Current setup Receiver: Pioneer VSX-815-k (only supports chroma 4:4:4 up to 60fps) 3.1 Speakers: Infinity P362's, PC350, and Polk PSW 505 (12"). The Infinity's are passive Inputs: PC (GTX 1070) + Nintendo Switch Old tv: Sony KDL-46EX500 46" (yup, it's been a long time coming) Room: 12' from TV to opposing wall.
Future proofing: I keep dreaming of 5.1, WAF not yet overcome but she appreciates what we have, always optimistic. Could see an XBOX/PS as the 4yo grows older. Hoping for 5+ years of usefulness.
Budget: $200-$500. I say as low as $200 because I think our needs are fairly basic. We've never cared or plan to care about features (looking at you wireless & bluetooth & any direct internet connectivity) we don't already use.
Usage: Plex, Bluray ultra HD, streaming services (YouTube, Pandora, Amazon Prime, Netflix, Disney+). All of that comes through the PC. Most demanding are movies/action sequences. Haven't had them super loud in a long time, but the youngest is getting older! Otherwise we've enjoyed the current speaker setup for a long time, no complaints.
I prefer new, and to purchase from Best Buy (local in case of returns/warranty), but Amazon.com, Newegg.com, and Monoprice.com are familiar to me.
